Bell House is truly a one-of-a-kind community, offering men and women who would otherwise be forced to chose between nursing homes or group homes the comfort, dignity, and friendly support of a carefully designed home environment that nurtures independent potential. As the only organization in the United States devoted to this kind of living solution for adults with physical disabilities, Bell House is committed to providing quality care while recognizing the individual experience and capabilities of every resident.

Our WE ARE ABLE campaign aims to raise $4 million so that more people who need us can experience without delay the promise of Bell House, where individual potential is celebrated, opportunity is expanded, and the joys of friendship are discovered every day.

Available to Many, Needed by More

Bell House is currently home to 22 adults. Amazingly, since opening more than three decades ago, Bell House has operated at full capacity each and every year, always with a waiting list of hopeful candidates wondering if they'll ever get to experience the inspiring freedom of this extraordinary community. Many families of disabled children are beginning to request early placement on our waiting list to improve their chances of admission once their child reaches age eighteen.

Built in 1979, Bell House lacks the physical space and technology updates needed for today's residents; bedrooms and even our dining room are too small to accommodate modern powered wheelchairs. Additionally, space for common areas, programs, and storage is wholly inadequate.

The success of this campaign will allow us to double the size of Bell House and renovate the entire facility to make it more modern, comfortable, and safe. This expansion will allow us to provide independent living to an additional 18 adults—and consequently, peace of mind to 18 additional families.
